A super high quality jacket engineered for running but perfect for cycling too. There’s plenty of fabric technology in the R5 to keep the elements out and keep you running without overheating.
Straight away the price will make people sit down but when you feel the jacket you’ll be drawn in. You’ll find the extra to fund this luxurious item.

Fit is close but not tight.
When GORE call this eye-catching they are not wrong. The white version we tried is translucent as they state especially so around the hood area that allows the neon yellow liner material to glow through.
Left and right side pockets if you need to keep your hands warm with a smaller inner pocket which would keep keys from jangling around. Weighing in at around 250g it’s lightweight but offering good layered insulation, perfect for down to -15°C according to GORE.
This is a serious jacket designed to perform and it’s a great jacket for those cold runs.
GORE say: “Not skin tight, but also not excessively baggy, Form Fit garments provide a sporting silhouette without being body hugging.

Super lightweight protection from wind and cold with breathable, quick drying POLARTEC® ALPHA® insulation. Transparent fabric on the outside with a WINDSTOPPER® liner gives an eye-catching look, fluid feel and negates the need for a mid-layer. For athletes wanting a superlight jacket for cold days.”
Two short draw strings at the left and right allow you to get the correct fit for you and the slightly elasticated cuff and a section around the small of your back keep cold air out and enhance the fit.
If you are looking for a cold weather lightweight jacket that will double duty as a cycle jacket then it’s going to be a great option. Price aside it is a very tactile Jacket that performs as promised.
