Review: Craft Active Extreme X Baselayers

Hailing from Sweden, you would expect the brand to know a thing or two about keeping warm. The Craft Active Extreme X range features several models in the range designed to help you perform in the elements.

The Active Extreme X Wind Long Sleeve Baselayer features a thin two layer front section. The inner layer for comfort and the outer to stop the cold wind penetrating. The thin base layer works very well for runners and cyclists, assuming you have a headwind!

Quality from Craft is top notch and the fit on both the crew and the wind top very flattering. Both garments feature well constructed flat lock seams which cut down the friction that can cause chaffing.

Both items fit unobtrusively under any outer garments and perform admirably. In the past few weeks here in the UK we had a pretty cold start to spring with temperatures not far above zero in the mornings and a sharp biting wind throughout the day. The baselayers worked faultlessly with particular note to the Wind layer which has become a go to item on early morning bike rides and fits well under a short sleeved cycle top and was an added layer to protect the arms if it got a bit warmer and you faced that jacket on, jacket off dilemma!

The final word probably should go to the cost, for technical apparel Craft have found a pretty fair price point, especially for the long sleeved Wind top. There’s lots to love here with the Craft Active Extreme X range.
