Your journey begins with a mouth swab that you return to the NGX testers for analysis and to prepare your bespoke meal mix.
Once you have posted back your DNA sample and activated your account you will receive regular email updates about the progress of your experience. From the testers receiving your sample to the creating of your unique blend of nutrients to the imminent arrival of your shake mix.
You will receive via email your personal nutritional report which is a comprehensive PDF with a wealth of information about the results of your DNA test. You can see an example report here.
This was very interesting to read. It breaks down a tonne of nutritional information based on your DNA sample. It digs deep into your own personal needs for nutrients and suggests how it might impact your performance. In my results a requirement for Vitamin E and A was highlighted.
Based on average recommended levels of nutrient intake the bespoke formula for my shake mix can be blended. From the test report you will be able to highlight what you need to address in your diet and the report suggests suitable foods to consider in your daily eating.
Obviously, real food is the first choice to address any nutritional short comings but Nutri-Genetix shakes can be used as an alternative to make things quicker and easier as your requirements are carefully met by your individual test result. Nutri-Genetix do a good job of suggesting suitable fresh food additions and suggestions as well as offering you the simplicity of the meal-shake.
The kit comes with a shaker which has a handy curved interior bottom to limit those tricky corners where you often get a build up of powder that refuses to mix.
Each bag of shake mix comes with the correct sized scoop, the main mix of personalised BodyFuel serving contains up to 27g of plant protein and your personal requirement of 30 essential nutrients, including Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin D, Antioxidants (Vitamins ACE and Selenium), Omega-3 and Calcium. The mix is enhanced by the flavour boost, either a Superberry flavour or cacao and coconut.
Depending on your goal Nutri-Genetix suggest which meals should be replaced or how the shakes can fit in with your food lifestyle.
Nutri-Genetix encourage baking etc with the powder mix, brownies or pancakes for example to add a bit of variety. If you’re not up for a bit of baking then a straight up shake will keep you going.
All NGX products are made from naturally sourced, vegan friendly ingredients and contain no artificial sweeteners, flavours or colours and are free from soy, lactose, gluten and GMO.
Is it worth your money?
Nutri-Genetix has been a great experience from ordering to sampling the shakes. It has been a well thought out journey with plenty of email updates during the process so you know where in the process you are. The report has proved to be hugely interesting. The level of detail is fascinating and it enables you to look at your current nutritional intake and fine tune.
As an alternative to off the shelf shake mixes, the Nutri-Genetix is another level as it’s blended just for you. The tailored ratio of nutrients means you can achieve the RDA%’s to help you achieve you desired goal, be that weightloss, performance, shaping or wellbeing.
The shakes are great tasting, I tried the Superberry flavour and I made them with water, they mixed quickly and were not powdery.
In short, the whole experience has been great. A bespoke nutrition mix based on your DNA at a realistic price. Is it worth it? Yes, a very enjoyable service and extremely educational. There’s far more to this than a meal replacement shake delivered to your door. It could be a whole new approach to your nutrition based more on bespoke science than suggested daily intakes.
