Some positive news with regards to events and gatherings with a new event coming to the South Coast. A new concept in fitness and entertainment is coming this September in the form of Contender Fest – a three-day festival that combines fitness challenges and taster classes, with gourmet food, entertainment, and music.
At the heart of this brand-new festival, taking place in Bournemouth, Dorset from September 10th to 12th is the Contender Games – a series of fitness challenges that will test strength, speed, and endurance, with big cash prizes for the winners.
The games will be based around a custom-built obstacle course with up to 40 different elements, including a 20k sledge pull, wooden incline walls, Berlin walls, tunnels, monkey bars, nets, tyre obstacles, a seesaw, and log flip.
Festival founder Des Burke, explains: “This isn’t about mud, electric shocks, water traps, and other gimmicks – this is much more a pure fitness experience that will test your skill, your will, your strength, speed, and stamina.
“The course is designed to be challenging, but not defeating; you can work at your own level, and go at your own pace, but make no mistake, the competition is going to be fierce, with some serious competitors fighting it out to take home the cash prizes.”
Events include the PX2 Team event, where two people work together to conquer the course for the chance of winning a £500, and Run 4 Your Life, an individual event where the first one over all the obstacles in the fastest time gets the £500 cash prize.
Then there is the Swarm 100 when 100 people will be let loose to overcome the obstacles across the course for an hour – a great one for gyms and sports clubs or even personal trainers and their clients to jump on board with, with special discounts and perks available for ‘Contender Ambassadors’ who bring between 50+ of their own clients to the event.
In addition, the ‘Big5’ will challenge competitors to complete as many reps as possible across five tough exercises, including barbell squats, chest presses, in just 60 seconds each, with the Contender who does the cleanest reps and the most across all five disciplines claiming the cash prize.
As well as the Contender Games, Contender Fest will include taster sessions and classes across 12 different fitness and wellbeing disciplines, from Yoga and meditation to kickboxing and military-style boot camp fitness.
A central stage will host performances throughout the day, while DJs will get the after-party going on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
Fitness-related trade stands will offer everything from branded clothing to specialist equipment, while a host of food traders will be offering up exotic street food, gourmet treats, award-winning local produce, alongside three speciality bars.
Further festival attractions will include an artisan Craft Village with live demonstrations and workshops, and kids’ mini-obstacle course, a fairground, entertainers and more, all set across a generous festival ground with ample parking in a unique, picturesque setting on the outskirts of Bournemouth, Dorset.
Tickets are on sale now starting from just £8. Book before July 4th to take advantage of the Early Bird offers.
