You Can Still Enter Robin Hood Half Next Weekend

There’s still time to enter this year’s Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon, the iconic event on the beautiful streets of Nottingham, but you’ll need to be quick. Limited Half Marathon places available (£37) for race pack collection only. Half Marathon race entry includes an official finisher T-shirt, race guide, medal and finish line goodies. Race packs will be available for collection on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September from the race village on Victoria Embankment.

Move this Movember with MoRunning!

MoRunning have announced they will host MoRuns at 22 different locations across the UK and Ireland throughout the month of ‘Movember’, to help raise awareness of men’s health issues and to raise vital funds for the Movember Foundation.

The MoRuns will take place between November 1st and November 30th in locations including; Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol and London. For the first time MoRuns, will also take place in Aberdeen, Exeter, Southampton, Ipswich and Whitstable.

MoRunning events are suited to runners of all abilities and of all ages, with a 5k option for the fun runners and a 10k option for those looking for a challenge. There is also a 1.5k Mini Mo run for children aged between 3 and 12 years.

In addition, for the first-time this year, runners can also take part in a “virtual MoRun” with runners encouraged to upload a screenshot of their result onto the website, which means that MoRuns can take place anywhere in the world! There, they will be placed onto the virtual MoRunning leader board and they will receive a medal and headband.

Now in its ninth year, 20,000 male and female runners are expected to take part in the MoRuns taking place up and down the country.

Runners are encouraged to don moustaches and run in fancy dress to raise vital funds for men’s health through the Movember Foundation with special “Mo medals” issued for the best dressed MoRunners at each location.

Runners can either run solo or enter as part of a team. Early bird prices start from £10 for the Mini Mo Run for children; £12 for the virtual MoRun; £16 for the 5k option and £19 for the 10k option.

Entries for this year’s Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon Events weekend close at midnight on Sunday 16th September.

A well established and scenic event on the marathon and half marathon calendar, this year there’s a brand new Mile Challenge as well. Runners will take in many of Nottingham’s historic landmarks as well as Wollaton Park and the riverside Victoria Embankment. National and local charities, including headline Cancer Research UK will benefit from funds raised by the event, which is now in its 38th year.

Richmond Runfest

Countdown on for Richmond RUNFEST

Richmond’s hugely popular two day running festival returns to Kew Gardens on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September. Over 10,000 runners will take on the Richmond RUNFEST, including British long distance runner and 2017 Queen of Richmond, Charlotte Purdue and Double Commonwealth Medallist Michael Shelley in Saturday’s 10k.

Purdue will be looking to retain her title in the Kew Gardens 10k, beating last year’s race time of 34:37, all in preparation for this year’s New York marathon. Shelley will have his eyes set on becoming the new King of Richmond adding to his impressive achievements this year.

This year’s running festival is set to be bigger and better than ever before, with a magical wonderland of Peter Pan, mermaids, lost boys, Captain Hook and the Pirates of the Jolly Roger and a record breaking number of entries. It will also be the greenest RUNFEST so far, with sustainability as a theme, and it is on course to raise £2 million for local and national charities over its 6 years.

London Marathon Appoints Spencer Barden as Head of Elite Athletes

London Marathon Events Ltd today announced the appointment of Spencer Barden as Head of Elite Athletes, replacing David Bedford, who steps down in November.

A former international athlete who represented his country in track, road and cross country events, Barden has worked with British Athletics in a variety of roles and is currently the consultant Head of Athlete Recruitment where he recruits the elite fields for all televised meets including the London Anniversary Games, Birmingham Diamond League and the Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham and Glasgow.

In his new role at London Marathon Events, Barden will be responsible for assembling the elite fields for the Virgin Money London Marathon, The Vitality Big Half, the Vitality Westminster Mile and the Vitality London 10,000. He will continue his work with British Athletics recruiting the elite fields for televised events.

Pop Up Pit Shops Announced for The Running Festival at Goodwood 2018

The Running Festival at Goodwood have confirmed Pop Up Pit Shops for the event on Sunday 14th October 2018.

Located in the pit garages, the ‘Pop Up Pit Shops’ will enable runners to stock up on running apparel, accessories and nutrition for the 10K, Half Marathon and Family Mile as well as the season ahead.

The Pop Up Pit Shops will include a range of well-known brands and innovative accessories for runners, with the first Pit Shop welcoming UKRunChat and event merchandise. Official retail partner, Up & Running, and official brand partners Ronhill, Hilly and Altra will also take over one of the shops.

Richmond Runfest

There’s a Real Buzz about the 2018 Richmond RUNFEST has been announced as the new title sponsor for Richmond RUNFEST. Olympian Jenny Meadows was on hand to lead a 5k run round St James’ Park after the launch at the new realbuzz store in Piccadilly Circus.

8,000 runners are expected on the weekend of 15th and 16th September for the 6th Richmond RUNFEST. As well as the marathon, half, 10k and family mile races there will now be a new 5k Pirate Run (entry £12)!

Reading Half and Robin Hood Marathon Change Hands

Sage Reading Half has been acquired by Goldline Events, along with the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon. Both events were previously owned by Brasher Leisure Limited.

Two of the biggest and most prestigious UK mass participation events, Reading attracts 15,000 runners and Nottingham over 12,000.
