Spartan, the obstacle course race and endurance brand, has announced its first UK Honour Series event will be held at Windsor in the UK. Designed to pay tribute to military, police, first responders and NHS staff, the Windsor weekend will play host to three race distances with waves dedicated solely to those who have served on the frontline. There is a significant discount for eligible participants and a brand-new bespoke honour medal has been uncovered.
Spartan UK and Ireland Managing Director, Matt Brooke said:
“From its very beginning, Spartan has been steadfast in supporting those who motivate us, protect us, serve us – those who achieve more than anyone thinks they can. Now more than ever, our NHS, first responders, police and military, and all those who put their lives on the line for us every day, have shown how to overcome any obstacle that stands in our way.
The 2020 Honour Series will provide a unique opportunity for veterans and those on the frontline to unite and race together. It will be an incredible event for the Obstacle Course Race community as we celebrate all those who live the Spartan mantra daily to get through tough times. Windsor is known amongst Spartan’s for being the biggest race of the season, so it’s the perfect setting for this commemorative event.”
Spartan UK and Ireland Honour Series Director, Dunc Baillie added:
“We can’t wait for the Honour Series to get underway in the UK for 2020 and beyond. It was always going to be a special event but this year it will be a true celebration of how our community is unbreakable. We are endlessly inspired by those on the frontline and we are eager to recognise them for all the work they have done and continue to do on behalf of our country. The grit and commitment they have shown in the face of adversity will be justly rewarded and rejoiced.”
The Windsor event weekend on 10 and 11 October 2020 will be packed full of Spartan’s signature obstacles such as the barbed wire crawl, spear throw, rope climb and fire jump. The race distances consist of a Sprint which is 5K with 20 obstacles, a Super which is 10K with 25 obstacles and the Beast which covers a half marathon distance with 30 obstacles. This makes it the world’s first Honour Series Trifecta – where racers who complete each distance over the weekend will be rewarded with another exceptional medal, their name on the 2020 Trifecta finisher flag, and qualify for the Trifecta World Championships in Sparta, Greece. For more information and to register for the Honour Series please see details here.
