London Marathon 2025: Triathlon superstar Alex Yee simply brilliant as he stars on debut in iconic race

British triathlon superstar Alex Yee showed there is very little he cannot do as he produced a terrific London Marathon debut in the capital on Sunday (April 27).

The 27-year-old Londoner of course is the best triathlete in the world, having claimed Olympic gold at Paris 2024 and followed up by becoming World Champion as well.

Yee’s run ability has always been a devastating weapon in his three-discipline sport, so when he announced he was crossing over to focus on a London marathon bid for the first part of 2025 there was much excitement.

And on Sunday in the capital, all the training and preparation paid off as Yee produced an excellent debut time of 2:11:08 – good enough for 14th in the Elite men’s race behind winner Sabastian Sawe of Kenya. He was the second British runner to finish after Mahamed Mahamed (ninth).

Yee started with a blistering 1:04:19 for the first half of the race, which saw him reach that stage in 22nd position. While the closing stages clearly were tough going, he surged up into that final 14th position, passing fellow Brits Jack Rowe and Philip Sesseman in the process. It was a terrific first effort at his big new challenge.
