Marathon number two on the Eliud Kipchoge ‘World Tour’ has been announced – and it’s in the country where he won his first Olympic title.

The 41-year-old Kenyan legend is the men’s GOAT over the 26.2-mile distance – two Olympic titles, 11 World Marathon Major wins, world records and the first man to go under two hours in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge are just some of his incredible achievements.

He has now stepped back from competitive racing but is planning to run seven marathons in seven continents over the next two years, using the platform to spread the “gospel of running” while raising funds for the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, which supports education and environmental causes.

Cape Town on May 24th was revealed as the first and now NB42k Porto Alegre in Brazil on July 12th has been announced as the second.

And he posted on his social media channels: “Running is a universal language that speaks to hope, discipline, and unity. I am very excited to return to Brazil where I won my first Olympic Gold medal.

“Each continent has its own spirit, and I look forward to sharing this journey with South America while inspiring people to believe that No Human Is Limited.

“There is a lot of passion for running in South America and I’m really looking forward to running with you

“See you on the streets of Porto Alegre on 12 July at the NB42k!”

Heading Down Under

And then a day later, race number three was added to the schedule – the Melbourne Marathon on October 11th will be the Oceania leg.

It’s an iconic event and finishes outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Kipchoge posted on Instagram: “Running brings people together across all borders. I am excited to return to Australia and experience the energy of the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival.

“The Australian running community is booming and the passion I experienced here before will stay with me for a lifetime. I saw with my own eyes that Australia is a real outdoor country with a big love for sports. That is why I can’t wait to come back, experience a new part of this great country and run together with the people of Melbourne and all of Oceania.”
