The UTMB World Series has so far confirmed 40 events for its 2024 edition.
The number of races featuring on the UTMB World Series has been increasing ever since its debut year in 2022, and has expanded again for 2024.
‘Running Stones’ are on offer to those who complete UTMB World Series events, which are then used for entry into a lottery for the UTMB World Series Finals at the UTMB Mont-Blanc, where Courtney Dauwalter and Jim Walmsley reigned supreme in 2023.
New races
There are five new races for the 2024 UTMB World Series, which will once again take place over five continents.
The new races are: Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB (Italy), Mauritius by UTMB (Mauritius), Quito Trail by UTMB (Ecuador), Ultra-Trail Mount Yun (China) and Ultra Trail Whistler by UTMB (Canada).
UTMB World Series Finals
UTMB Mont-Blanc plays host to the UTMB World Series Finals between August 26 – September 1 in 2024. The Chamonix event boasts a plethora of races over varying distances, including the three Finals – the OCC (50K), CCC (100K) and the historic Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (100M).
Runners must finish in the top three (both male and female) of their respective category at any UTMB event over the 50K, 100K or 100M distance to automatically qualify for the UTMB World Series Finals.
Runners can also qualify with a top 10 finish at a UTMB World Series Major. Val d’Aran by UTMB and Doi Inthanon Thailand by UTMB have so far been confirmed as the Major races for 2024.
Those who have collected at least one Running Stone – achieved by completing any UTMB World Series Event – can qualify for the Finals via a lottery. Double the typical amount of Running Stones are on offer at Major races.
