The Californian leg of the GTWS concludes at Mammoth Lakes, a stunning mountain village located over 2,400 metres above sea level.
It’s the athletes’ last chance to score points and secure a spot in the top 30 before the final, which means an invitation to Switzerland.
The course has been modified to make the downhill section more technical. So, who will be victorious? Who will cope best with the altitude? Which runners will make it into the top 30, and who will be squeezed out? Read on to find out more…
The main elite events get under way at 09:40 local time on Sunday 22 September. That’s 18:40 CET and 17:40 in the UK.

Mammoth 26K
start list
In the women’s field, Joyce Njeru (KEN) is looking for a California double after winning last week’s Headlands 27K, making her the favourite on the relatively fast Mammoth course.
But can she again hold off Madalina Florea (ROM) who was hot on her heels in the final sprint last weekend?
Judith Wyder (SUI), the winner of the Marathon du Mont-Blanc and fourth at Mill Valley, will be eager to improve her position and join the battle on a course she won last year.
Miao Yao (CHN) finished strong in the last race and has had a fantastic season so far so is another for the short list.
Lauren Gregory (USA) surprised everyone with second-place finish at Headlands while the stacked line up also includes fellow Americans Anna Gibson, Rachel Tomajczyk, Allie Ostrander and Rachel Drake.
For the men, can anyone stop Elhousine Elazzaoui (MAR) who is leading the overall ranking after last week’s victory?
Philemon Kiriago (KEN), will be seeking revenge after losing to Elazzaoui in a sprint finish at Headlands while Rémi Bonnet (SUI), last year’s winner, will be focused on defending his title.
Patrick Kipngeno (KEN) will try to secure his third Series victory and go into the final as overall leader and surely the winner will come from that quartet.
Christian Allen (USA) showed incredible speed in the last race and is definitely one to watch at Mammoth. Other challengers include Roberto Delorenzi (SUI), Miquel Corbera (SPA), Daniel Pattis (ITA), Fred Tranchand (FRA) and Meikael Beaudoin–Rousseau (USA).
