Harry Styles ran for over 26 miles in one direction at exactly the same pace as he absolutely ACED the 2025 Tokyo marathon on Sunday.
The pop icon is normally used to be absolutely centre stage, but he was just another one of the 20,000 runners taking part in the incredible annual spectacle in the Japanese capital.
While he didn’t inform his 47m Instagram fans of his athletic feat, the 31-year-old superstar – running under his full name Harry Edward Styles and wearing bib number 39162, had clearly prepared meticulously for this event, as showcased by his metronomic performance on the big day.
Styles like clockwatch in marathon test
Styles was as regular as clockwork in negotiating the 26.2-mile course, producing almost identical splits for both halves of the gruelling trip. He started with a 1:42:03 for the first 13.1 miles, and then added a 1:42:04 for an overall net finish time of 3:24:07.
That wasn’t quite enough to test the best of the best – for context Ethiopa’s Tadese Takele claimed victory in the race for elite men as he clocked a blistering 2:03:23. But it was still a race that Harry can be pretty proud of. He finished in position 6010 out of a massive overall field of 26,706 runners.
Harry wasn’t the only British legend in action either – former marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe made her comeback after a 10-year absence at the age of 51 and finished in a time of 2:57:22.
Not surprisingly, Styles had plenty of support out on course, with plenty of fans recognising the former One Direction star (check out the clip below, he’s wearing all black gear and Nike yellow road racers).
The next question of course is when will we next see Harry in major marathon action? We’d like to believe he’s looking for a Six Star medal at some stage in the near future. Maybe he’ll join Olympic triathlon champ Alex Yee and the other thousands of competitors set to line up in London in April…
