Looking For a Challenge for 2020? How About SNOWDON24?

Published on

We love hearing about new races at Run247, especially when they’re a bit different. Here’s a new race which sounds both different and difficult  – SNOWDON24! It’s being organised by Always Aim High Events, the team behind Snowdonia Trail Marathon and this year’s new Conwy Marathon, so we know it’s going to be well organised, friendly and challenging!

Runners will take on as many ascents and descents of Snowdon as possible in 24 hours (though actual ‘running’ may be limited). With the summit at 1,085 metres, it won’t be easy.

The 15km route, which will constitute one ascent and descent, follows the Llanberis Path, taking in Half Way House, Allt Moses, Clogwyn Bridge and ultimately on to the summit before heading back down.

Runners can enter solo, as a pair of as a team with a maximum of 5 participants. They must complete as many ascents and descents as possible in 24 hours and in the event of a tiebreak, times will be taken into consideration.

To add to the fun the organisers will also be awarding individuals and teams with the following classifications:

3 times ascend and descend – Snowdon Triple Award
5 times or more ascend and descend – Mont Blanc Award
7 times or more ascend and descend – Kilimanjaro Award
10 times or more ascend and descend – the Ultimate Everest Award!

The inaugural event will take place in 2020 and if it sounds like the challenge for you, you can pre-register now
