British endurance phenom Imo Boddy has embarked on an epic adventure, climbing and running between the three highest peaks in the UK, in an attempt to break a 45-year-old world record.
At 7am on Wednesday morning, Imo put her hand in the sea in Scotland and aims to do the same when she reaches Wales, in less than 7 days time. But to get there, she will have to cover more than 680k, including traversing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, which equates to some 10,000m of elevation.
Boddy is aiming to beat the long-standing record of 7 days and 31 minutes, set by Ann Sayer way back in 1979.
The youngest female to complete JOGLE
Imo is no stranger to challenges, in 2022, she became the youngest female to run the length of Britain. Aged just 22, she ran 1340k from John o’Groats to Land’s End, in 22 days, covering 60k a day.
Two years later, Imo is back for her second world record attempt, supported by her family, friends and small media crew. The last six months she’s been vigorously training. She even did a ‘sim week’, whereby she simulated what she would be doing for the world record, on a smaller scale. For this attempt, she is aiming to cover around 100k a day.
A new benchmark for Boddy
“Breaking the Three Peaks record is more than a personal goal; it’s about setting a new benchmark in endurance sports and inspiring other young women to push their limits,” said Imo.
“I count myself incredibly lucky to have an extended family who support me no matter what and truly believe I am capable of this challenge. I have to say, I agree with them!”
