Spartan to race online this weekend

This weekend the first SPARTAN UK & IRELAND VIRTUAL RACE will take place.

“Even though the Spartan season is temporarily on hold, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to fill the void and give you a platform to race and train for.

For each of their postponed events, they’re holding a Spartan Virtual Race – same weekend, same distance, same obstacle count. These events are open to all and are totally free.

Each Virtual Race consists of an outdoor run or indoor running equivalent (e.g. stationary bike, step-ups) and obstacles. Instead of cargo nets and barbed wire, you’ll take on push-ups, mountain climbers and more to finish.

Finishers will earn a leaderboard spot, be presented with a virtual medal, a celebratory certificate, a chance to win some amazing prize bundles (it’s not just those who are the ‘fastest’ that get rewarded) and, of course, unlimited bragging rights.

You can check out their indoor training here. Spartan Director of Training Sam Stauffer shares his simple, but effective full-body workout that can be performed anywhere and with no equipment at all.

So what are you waiting for? Nominate your friends to get involved and let’s race!” Virtual Race for the NHS.
