The 5km obstacle course race is the biggest new corporate event to come to London in recent years and employees from corporate organisations in both the private and public sectors are being invited to take part in the event.
Research has revealed that over two thirds (69%)* of employees agree that health and wellness play an important part of their organisations culture and that participation in wellness programs increases their overall engagement with their employer’s goals.
The Spartan Corporate Challenge will encourage employees to be more active, help to build team spirit and morale within organisations and it’s a great way of entertaining existing and potential clients in a fun and unique setting.
The famous Twickenham rugby stadium will be packed with a combination of 20 unique and challenging obstacles. Teams of four, which can be made up of men and women, will weave their way through sloping walkways, navigate the winding corridors and scale the stadium stairs.
The obstacles include box jumps, stair climbs, low crawls and bag carries as well as some of the more traditional Spartan obstacles. The course will be mud free and the famous 30-burpee penalty for missing an obstacle, synonymous with traditional Spartan race events, has been reduced to 15 as this is a fast-paced course.
The 5km course is the perfect distance for those competing in their first obstacle course race or the experienced racer, who is looking to race against the clock.
Completing the race in teams of four will encourage individuals to work together, add extra fun and excitement to the race and it will ensure participants stay motivated right the way through to the finish line.
The event offers the opportunity to network with individuals from other businesses. Food and drink will be available throughout the day, as well as live music and interactive experiences. For VIP teams, there will be a special buffet and bar available on site to enjoy and talks from guest speakers.
In addition to The Spartan Corporate Challenge on Saturday, 23rd November the first ever UK Stadion Race – which has also been organised by Spartan and is open to the public will take place inside Twickenham Stadium.
Spartan General Manager for UK & Ireland Sam Lansdale said: “Twickenham is steeped in history and we are pleased to be able to launch The Spartan Corporate Challenge at such an iconic venue.
He added: “The event will bring together teams from the corporate sector in a unique and challenging environment and it will provide a fantastic opportunity for staff to train and race together as a team.”
Spartan was founded by passionate adventure racer Joe De Sena in 2008 and has grown to become the world’s largest obstacle race and endurance brand, with more than 200 events in more than 42 countries across the globe and over 1 million racers a year.
The Spartan Corporate Challenge is taking place at Twickenham Stadium on Friday 22nd November 2019 from 3pm. The standard team entry is £320 per team and VIP team entry is £500 per team.
