OMM Festival and Grasmere Gallop join forces

OMM Festival and Grasmere Gallop join forces for an epic weekend of running exploring the Lakeland trails.

OMM, known for their mountain running kit, will be organising trail and mountain bike versions of their famous Mountain Marathon. A two day mountainous treasure hunt. Grasmere Gallop will be organising trail races including:

“We wanted to put on an event for people like ourselves who love the Lake District trails. We’re inviting them to come and spend a weekend on the trails, being immersed in the local stories, guide’s teachings, and local produce with other likeminded enthusiasts.” OMM/Grasmere Gallop organisers.

The organisers said “There’ll be a lot going on. We want the weekend to inspire people to explore the Lake District. In addition to the OMM and Grasmere Gallop events there’ll be free workshops to learn the skills needed in the Lakeland Fells. Local experts share their wisdom on choosing routes and how to get the most out of any trip to the hills. Team OMM will also be providing rare insights into the latest trends, gadgets and techniques to get you around quicker. All of which can be absorbed whilst camping in the summer sun, with a pint of Langdale Gold or two. We want to cater for the seasoned Lake District racer and those taking their first steps running in the stunning Lake District Fells. An inclusive and accessible experience for all.”

Families & groups of friends are encouraged to stay all weekend. You can mix and match which events you want to do or draw straws to see who looks after the kids. “We’ve got enough space for everyone to camp so all are welcome to bring what they need and make a weekend of it.”

When is it?

The dates for your diary are Friday 28^th – Sunday 30^th May 2021 at the Grasmere Showground.

The weekend of racing kicks off on Saturday, with the OMM Lite & Bike competitors hitting the hills, map in hand. This is closely followed by the Grasmere Gallop trail racers, all of which follow fully waymarked routes. Let’s not forget the main event, the kids Teddy Dash going off at 12.30 Saturday.

The OMM Festival and Grasmere Gallop 2021 follows on from a difficult year in 2020 that has seen most events and races cancelled. Devastating the local community, reliant of thousands of visitors every year.
