The Running Bee Foundation launches virtual ‘We Love Our NHS Manchester 10K’

Published on

The Running Bee Foundation has teamed up with the Manchester Foundation Trust Charity (MFTC) to hold a virtual running event. Starting on Sunday 22nd November 2020 you will have four weeks to complete the event.

The event will enable the MFTC to reach as many people as possible during these difficult times and support their vital work in providing treatment, research and care to patients .

The virtual ‘We Love Our NHS Manchester 10K’ will see runners complete a 10K at a time to suit them. Runners will donate £10 and can run, jog or walk their distance, with all proceeds going to the Manchester Foundation Trust Charity.
Participants will also receive a limited-edition medal by post once they’ve completed their 10k challenge.

The Running Bee Foundation’s physical race was due to take place at Heaton Park on the 22nd of November 2020, but now planned for the 4th July 2021 due to COVID restrictions.

Fundraising helps hospitals in the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust across Greater Manchester and Trafford, making it the largest NHS Trust in the country with more than 25,000 staff providing care to more than 2.5 million patients per year.

Chris Bird the Founder and trustee of The Running Bee Foundation, said: ‘’We have all been hugely affected by the coronavirus outbreak and our NHS frontline workers have been working tirelessly to save lives in their communities during the most uncertain of times.

“The Running Bee Foundation wants to show its appreciation for everything they have done and encourage people to run and raise money for the vital services the NHS provide’.

Viv Williamson, Senior Events Manager at Manchester Foundation Trust Charity, said: “We’re incredibly honoured that The Running Bee Foundation has chosen to support us in this way and we’re looking forward to the event.

“We would love it if those taking part would like to fundraise for the Charity and support Manchester and Trafford hospitals.

“Everyone who wants to fundraise for us can support either Manchester Foundation Trust Charity as a whole or, if they have a particular hospital or ward they’d like to benefit from their fundraising, we can arrange that too.”
