The summer of record attempts continues and the latest runner to put their lockdown fitness to the test is Jo Meek. Jo is a GB trail and ultra runner, who’s previously finished 2nd at the CCC at UTMB, 5th at Comrades, won the Lakeland 50 and has a record of podium and top 10 finishes as long as your arm (in races such as the IAU 100k World Championships, the World Trail Championships and Lavaredo).
With no races on the horizon Jo used lockdown as a reason to explore Dartmoor, where she lives, and has been enthusing about all the incredible trails she found on her doorstop. She’s now taking on a big challenge and encouraging others to get out there running on beautiful Dartmoor.
Jo’s challenge is an attempt to set a new record for the Dartmoor Round (or the Nigel Jenkins Dartmoor Round), a 76 mile route around the whole of Dartmoor with 12,000 feet of ascent. Jo must visit 28 Tors in her quest to break the current record of 16 hours and 11 minutes, which was set by Nigel Jenkins over 20 years ago.
Jo sets off on August 15th and you can follow her progress at http://live.opentracking.co.uk/njdr2020/. Good luck Jo!
