Rachel Entrekin is closing in on history as she looks to become the first woman to win the overall title at the Cocodona 250.

The American star has won the women’s race in this epic 253-mile point-to-point ultramarathon through central Arizona in each of the last two years, shattering the female course record in 2025 with her time of 63 hours, 50 minutes and 55 seconds.

That was also good enough for fourth overall but as we passed the 48-hour point on Wednesday in the 2026 edition, she was well clear of all her rivals – female and male – in what were ideal conditions thanks to cloud cover and lower-than-normal temperatures.

Gap initially closes

You can read here about how she built up her initial advantage in the first 24 hours and since then it’s been a masterclass of pacing and endurance as she heads towards the finish in Flagstaff.

The half hour gap she held from Kilian Korth at the Jerome aid station at around the 24-hour mark was maintained all the way through to Munds Park more than 15 hours later.

But she spent more than 20 minutes at that aid station and by the next one at Kelly Canyon there was just seven minutes between them, while Cody Poskin had worked his way up to third, two hours behind.

But then Entrekin powers ahead

That though proved to be as close as it got and in the next section of the race, with around 50 miles remaining, was where Entrekin really started to pull clear.

It took Entrekin an hour and 50 minutes to reach the next checkpoint at Fort Tuthill but Korth, who was struggling with a glute issue, took exactly three hours.

All of which means that Entrekin has not much more than 30 miles to go and not only is she on track for the overall win but also the overall record which was set last year by Dan Green and stands at 58:47:18.

Poskin remains in third, ahead of Joe McConaughy and Heather Jackson. The latter looks in great shape for second place in the women’s race in what is her debut over a distance of over 200 miles. She is now around an hour in front of ultrarunning GOAT Courtney Dauwalter.

And you can watch live here as Entrekin bids to make Cocodona history.
