Vicky Hogg is a 35 year old support worker from Doncaster who is on her journey running from John O’Groats to Lands End (JOGLE). She expects to cover a total of 900 miles over 30 days, in order to cover the length of the country by foot.
During an incredibly challenging year as a support worker for the local council, helping people who have just left hospital, Vicky has seen the devastating effects that Dementia can have on families. By undertaking JOGLE for Dementia UK she hopes to raise money and awareness, so that families and carers no longer have to sacrifice their own wellbeing to ensure their loved ones have the best care possible.
You can follow her progress via her social media here.
Vicky aims to be running from the 24th May until the 22nd June, and will be running around 30 miles daily. She will be sleeping in her camper van in campsites overnight on the way down along the route. While not the fastest route, Vicky will be taking a more scenic option that takes in cycle paths, trails and minor roads along the way, to see the country in a different light. The route is over 900 miles with Vicky hoping to complete the journey in 30 days.
Along her journey Vicky will be supported by 361° Europe, who are kitting her out with shoes and apparel to keep her running safely, via running specialist retailer Metres to Miles. Julian from Metres to Miles has been vitally important in the build up, with his knowledge of the trainers that will work best for the challenge and terrain Vicky will be facing.
We wish Vicky well on her challenge from John O’Groats to Lands End and hopefully we will get to speak with her during the next few weeks to see how she is getting on and the challenges that she has faced and probably the challenges she is anticipating as the days roll by and the legs get tired.
